Six people were injured in five different accidents on Dubai's roads in the last 48 hours.

Dubai Police said speeding, jaywalking and failure to maintain a safe distance were the main causes.

The accidents were reported on Al Yalayis Road, Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and on the Business Bay Bridge.

A minibus ran over a jaywalker in one of the incidents, while two motorcyclists were injured in two other accidents.

Details of accidents

The first accident occurred on Tuesday on Al Yalayis Road towards Sheikh Zayed Road.

"Due to excessive speeding and failure to keep a safe distance, five vehicles crashed, causing mild injuries to three people," said Colonel Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic.

The second incident took place when a pedestrian was jaywalking and a minibus ran him over. The pedestrian sustained mild injuries.

"Another accident happened on Al Khail Road on Dubai Water Canal Bridge towards Deira, when a motorcycle crashed into a car in front.
"The bike rider sustained moderate injuries and was transferred to the hospital for treatment," said Col. bin Suwaidan.

He added that the fourth accident occurred on Wednesday morning on Sheikh Zayed Road at the Marina Mall entrance.

"A lorry driver slowed down and reversed to enter the mall's parking lot, and crashed into a motorcycle. The crash left the motorcyclist severely injured," explained the official.
