His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi between Russia, Ukraine and the United States.
He expressed hope the discussions would lead to concrete progress towards ending a crisis that has lasted nearly four years and caused immense humanitarian suffering.
Sheikh Abdullah said hosting the talks reflects the UAE’s trusted role in promoting peace, supporting dialogue, and transforming challenges into opportunities for the region.
He added that the UAE maintains strong and longstanding partnerships with all three parties, enabling it to serve as a credible and neutral platform for dialogue at a time when serious diplomacy is urgently needed.
The talks, which began today and continue over two days, build on the UAE’s track record of facilitating diplomacy, including 17 mediation efforts for prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, resulting in the release of 4,641 detainees.
The minister reaffirmed the UAE’s belief that sustainable solutions can only be achieved through dialogue and de‑escalation, stressing the country’s commitment to building diplomatic bridges and supporting any progress achieved by the talks.
