His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has cancelled the age cap to employ Emiratis for government jobs, adding that eligible candidates, between the age of 18 and 60, will be hired.
He directed the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources "to find jobs for all applicants of UAE citizens aged 18 to 60," national news agency WAM reported.
In an earlier directive under the Social Security Fund, those aged above 30 years were not recruited.
Dr Sheikh Sultan explained the law was "misapplied".

"I issued this law in 2018, and it makes it clear that each eligible person between the ages of 18 and 60 should be employed," he added.
The Sharjah Ruler said the Emirate has seen a huge increase in employment opportunities as it offers good pay packages, benefits under a four-day work week.
He added that Sharjah University graduates could expect a monthly salary of AED 25,000, housing allowance and other benefits.
Dr Sheikh Sultan added that recruitment drive for Sharjah Police and Civil Defence is "still ongoing" and a "final tally of new recruits" will be announced before the end of the year.
He also announced a raise in pension for UAE nationals, so there's no discrepancy due to inflation.
Another 45 people of determination have also been employed in various roles in the public sector, Dr Sheikh Sultan announced.
