Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed all works on the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street development project, which included the construction of four bridges and two tunnels.

The project also enhanced four major intersections in the area and built roads spanning 14km, focusing on areas between Oud Al Metha Road and Al Asayel Street, including Al Khail Road.

Works on Oud Al Metha Road reduced travel time by 75 per cent while increasing its road capacity by 50 per cent from 10,400 to 15,600 vehicles per hour in both directions.

The project serves numerous service, residential, and development areas, including Za’abeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Metha, and Umm Hurair. It also supports vital facilities in the neighbouring area, including Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club.

The population of the areas served by the project is expected to exceed 420,000 by 2030.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said the completion of the project "represents an important addition to Dubai's road network, given its key location and its role in strengthening connectivity between many corridors, residential and development areas, and service facilities".
