Motorists involved in certain traffic offences in Ras Al Khaimah now face stiffer penalties to secure the release of their impounded vehicles.
According to Ras Al Khaimah Police, the new rules will come into effect on March 1.
As per the latest directives, motorists who take part in a march or parade in violation of traffic rules will have their vehicles confiscated for a period of 15 to 120 days. The offender will have to pay an amount ranging between AED 1,000 and AED 10,000 to get the car released.
Those caught driving without a number plate or fake plate will have their vehicle seized for 120 days, and the violator will have to pay AED 20,000 to get it released.
Meanwhile, cars and motorcycles with illegal modifications and speed boosters will be confiscated for 60 days. AED 5,000 has been set as the amount for securing the vehicle's release.
The new rules also include penalties for abandoning vehicles and placing vehicles for sale in undesignated places.
