The Traffic Control Department reported that in 2023, there were 247 instances of vehicles being modified in their engines or structures without proper authorisation from licensing bodies.
Each violator was hit with a fine of 1,000 Dirhams and resulted in 12 black points on the driver's record, along with the impoundment of the vehicle for thirty days.
Additionally, during the same period, 42 vehicles were apprehended for operating without license plates, leading to a penalty of 3,000 Dirhams for each owner, 23 black points, and a ninety-day vehicle impoundment.
Ras Al Khaimah Traffic and Patrol Administration urged vehicle owners and drivers to comply with traffic regulations and laws in order to enhance traffic safety on the roads and avoid legal accountability and consequent actions taken against violators.
It's part of the strategy of the Ministry of the Interior on enabling safe movement of roads using modern traffic systems and creating a safe traffic environment.
