The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has called on private sector firms to hit their Emiratisation targets by the end of the year in order to avoid penalties.
Companies with at least 50 employees must ensure that two per cent of their staff are Emirati.
From January 2023, non-compliant firms will have to pay a monthly penalty of AED 6,000 for every UAE national that it fails to hire.
Mohammad Alhakim, Director of Coordination and Partnerships Department at the Ministry shared the details with ARN News.
The UAE is aiming to achieve an Emiratisation rate of 10 per cent by 2026.
The MoHRE offers private sector companies that reach the Emiratisation target a package of incentives, including the first category classification and membership of the Tawteen Partners Club within the establishments' classification system where members receive discounts of up to 80 per cent on the ministry's service fees.
