A unified hotline has been launched in Dubai to enhance child protection programmes.
The number 800988 is a 24-hour channel for the public to report cases of abuse, neglect and violence.
It will ensure quick follow-up of cases and help streamline the flow of information.
The hotline has been set up following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.
The Community Development Authority (CDA), which is in charge of managing the platform, will evaluate each case based on its severity.
Their child protection specialists will then conduct field visits and take appropriate action in coordination with other government entities.
The CDA will work in partnership with Dubai Police, Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, Personal Status Court, Disciplinary Court, Public Prosecution and Juvenile Prosecution.
The latest initiative assumes significance in light of the prevailing distance education policy and the current circumstances keeping children away from educational and health institutions.
