The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) meets in Abu Dhabi later this week for its 30th Council session.
The two-day talks (October 30-31) will review global progress on the clean energy transition and set priorities ahead of COP30 in Brazil and the 16th IRENA Assembly.
Discussions will centre on delivering the 'UAE Consensus' (COP28) targets — tripling renewable power and doubling energy efficiency by 2030.
Despite growing investment, IRENA warns the world is still falling short of those goals.
Delegates will also look at clean industrialisation, supply chain resilience, and ways to boost regional and international cooperation to speed up the shift to renewables.
The outcomes will shape the agenda for the 16th IRENA Assembly in Abu Dhabi in January, the first ministerial energy meeting of 2026.
