Warning about fake universities issued to Indian students in UAE

Officials say that qualifications issued by unaccredited institutions aren't recognised (HONGQI ZHANG/123RF)

Indian students in the UAE are being advised to take extra care to make sure they're not applying to fake universities.

The Indian Consulate General in Dubai issued the warning to pupils who are preparing to pursue further studies.

They're urging students to check if the offshore campuses of the universities they're applying to are accredited.

Only schools that are recognised by the University Grants Commission of India can offer official degrees and diplomas.
