His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai established the Dubai Council to develop the emirate's agenda for the future.
The Dubai Ruler seeks to anticipate and develop the emirate’s future development agenda as Law No. 21 of 2021 was issued on Saturday.
The Dubai Council will support government bodies in raising the effectiveness and competitiveness of in their work.
The body will oversee "major qualitative projects and transformational and unusual initiatives," according to national media WAM, with the aim to enhance leadership roles and enhance the city's global position.
The new council will have a legal profile and the legal capacity required to ensure the achievement of its objectives.
The council will be chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai’s Executive Council, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, as deputies.
The law also established that the Executive Office will assume the duties of the General Secretariat and provide the necessary support to the Council.
This support includes administrative and technical oversight, including decision-making, offering recommendations, and conducting research.
A commissioner-general, who will be appointed by the chairman, will be entrusted with overseeing the development track
