Remote working has been approved on Thursday and Friday for all non-essential staff of federal entities and private sector companies in areas affected by torrential rains, especially in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

The transportation for essential employees between their workplace and residence must be counted as within their working hours on these two days, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) said in a statement.

The decision does not apply to entities concerned with civil defence, police and security units that deal with disasters and emergencies, as well as those responsible for community support.

It comes as heavy rains continued to lash large parts of the country on Wednesday.
