Dubai is testing a new shared school transport service that uses luxury SUVs to carry students from different schools along the same route.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with global tech firm Yango Group to run the pilot.
Yango’s system will monitor each vehicle in real time, manage trips more transparently, and let parents track the SUV throughout the journey.
The service is open to students aged 14 and above, launching at a special rate of AED 1,000 per month, with payments made online. Travel time from home to school will not exceed 60 minutes.
By grouping students from the same neighbourhood, the project aims to ease the cost burden on families, reduce the number of private cars at school gates, and cut congestion during peak drop‑off and pick‑up times.
It’s expected to particularly help families with multiple children or long daily commutes.
The pilot phase will cover students at Bloom Academy, Brighton College, GEMS Founders School, GEMS Al Barsha National School, Dubai American Academy, and the American School of Dubai, along with nearby residential areas.
Pick‑up and drop‑off times will match each school’s schedule, with parents notified in advance.
As the trial continues, feedback from families and schools will shape improvements and determine whether the service expands across the emirate.
Parents of students enrolled at participating schools can register their interest in the pilot, online.
If successful, it could become a long-term, cost‑effective and safer transport option for students across Dubai.
