Riding a taxi to some locations in Dubai will now cost more as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new flag-down rate of AED 20.
This will be applicable during major events, exhibitions and international conventions at locations including the World Trade Centre, Expo City and Global Village.
The new flag-down rate applies to regular metered taxis as well as Hala Taxi service at specific locations and times.
The RTA said it will also charge dynamic fares (up to double the original price) on Hala Taxi services on New Year's Eve. These fares will be in place from 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 31, to 6:00 am on Monday, January 1, at the locations of fireworks displays.
The flag fall rate for a standard taxi service will be AED 20 at these locations for the mentioned times.
