In a swift and life-saving response, Dubai Police traffic patrols rescued a female driver whose cruise control malfunctioned on Sheikh Zayed Road, preventing what could have been a serious accident.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said the operations room received a report of a vehicle stuck at a constant speed, with the driver unable to regain control.
Patrols quickly located the car in the fourth lane and coordinated a safe escort, guiding the driver through phone instructions.
One patrol positioned itself in front of the vehicle to gradually slow it down, while others secured the surrounding lanes, creating a safe corridor. The car was brought to a stop without injuries or damage.
Al Mazrouei praised the professionalism of the traffic teams and urged drivers to regularly check critical systems like cruise control and brakes.
He also shared safety tips for handling such emergencies and emphasised that staying calm and making the right decisions in critical moments can save lives.
