Dubai’s Al Raffa Police Station has returned AED 123,000 worth of stolen medical supplies to a shop owner, who had no idea the items were even missing.
Police say the thefts happened over a period of time from a warehouse linked to the store.
A gang was caught by the authority’s ‘Intelligence and Security Teams’ unit, which observed suspicious activity and launched an investigation.
Brigadier Ghalib Al Ghafli, Acting Director at Al Raffa Police Station, praised the unit’s efforts, calling the case a testament to its role in enhancing public safety and trust.
Since launching in 2023, the team has handled over 1,300 tips and solved more than 700 cases, earning 27 certificates of appreciation from various internal and external organisations.
Lieutenant Colonel Ali Al Awar, who leads the unit, said officers noticed a group acting suspiciously and found them in possession of a large quantity of medical products. The suspects admitted to repeatedly stealing from the warehouse, without raising any alarms.
Surveillance footage later confirmed the thefts, and police say the group may be tied to other similar crimes.
