Dubai issues safety guidelines as mosques set to reopen for Friday prayers

With mosques in the UAE set to reopen to worshippers for Friday prayers from tomorrow, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has issued a list of safety advisories to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

In a tweet, the authority advised worshippers to wear masks, maintain two-metre social distance and carry their own prayer mats and Qura'ans.

They must also perform ablution at home and avoid touching exposed surfaces.

The authority called on elderly people, children, those suffering from chronic diseases as well as people with weak immunity to pray from home.

And, to refrain from stepping out if showed any symptoms of COVID-19.

The capacity of mosques during Friday prayers will be capped at 30 per cent and the duration of the sermon will not exceed 10 minutes.
