All farm animals in Dubai will be registered, tagged and micro-chipped as part of a new rule introduced by the municipality. The project is in its first phase, and registrations of animals will be done free of charge. Data collected through the emirate-wide tagging system will ensure the quality of produce in local markets. The new system will also help in maintaining surveillance, controlling diseases, improving productivity and tracking animal movement.
