A reckless female driver has been summoned by Dubai Police for allowing a female co-passenger sit on the door of a moving convertible to take photos.

The authority impounded the vehicle after identifying the driver and fined her AED 2,000 and issued 60 black points.

She was penalised for "endangering the life, safety or security of the driver or others".

The police warned that reckless road stunts could be dangerous, leading to the "loss of balance, need for driver to brake suddenly, or swerve to avoid unexpected hazard".

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasised that sitting or extending any part of the body outside a moving vehicle significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death.

Road users have been urged to sit inside the vehicle, wear seatbelts and avoid being distracted by filming videos or engaging in  dangerous challenges. "Seconds of doing a stunt can turn into a tragedy that will change the lives of innocent people forever,” he added.
