A reckless driver in Sharjah has been arrested and handed a total of 35 black points for multiple traffic violations for his dangerous stunts in a residential neighbourhood.
In a video posted on social media platform X, Sharjah Police documented the driver spinning his SUV through a sandy patch in the Emirate.
Police said they immediately took action after being alerted about the incident by residents, adding that footage from surveillance cameras in the area helped record the violations and trace the driver.
The driver has been handed a fine of AED 2,000, 23 black points and 60-day vehicle impoundment for "driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers one's own life and the lives of others. Additionally, he has been fined AED 1,000, 12 black points and 90-day vehicle impoundment for modifying the car engine without approval.
According to the UAE traffic laws, drivers will face license suspension and court proceedings if they cross the yearly limit of 24 black points.
The public has been urged to report traffic violations to Sharjah Police's official channels or by dialling 999.
