As Anti-Bullying Week comes to a close, officials in the emirate are urging schools to do more to tackle the problem. The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has conducted a workshop to teach children, parents, teachers and school administrators to deal with the issue. Psychological or verbal abuse is believed to be the most common type of bullying, followed by physical and sexual. Another growing problem among students is cyber-bullying, which has also been tackled by the foundation. Aisha Al Midfa is a programme researcher and officer at the DFWAC.
