Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed major traffic expansion works on Al Warqa’a 1 Street, stretching seven kilometres between Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Ras Al Khor Road.
The project converted four roundabouts into smart signalised intersections, improving traffic flow by up to 30 per cent.
The upgrade also included advanced stormwater drainage networks, modern street lighting with 324 poles, 111 new parking spaces, and pedestrian pathways covering 41,000 square metres — enhancing safety and mobility for residents.
Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, said the works build on previous improvements, including entry and exit points to Al Warqa’a from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, as well as upgrades on 13th Street in Al Warqa’a 1, extending approximately 8 km.
Current projects also focus on internal roads in Al Warqa’a 3 and 4, adding pavements, cycling tracks and parking spaces to support sustainable transport.
