His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has expressed the UAE's support for Bahrain after authorities there said they had uncovered a cell linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In a statement, Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE stood in full solidarity with Bahrain and backed measures taken by Bahraini security authorities to protect the country’s security and stability.
Bahrain said the group was linked to the ideology of “Wilayat al-Faqih” and was connected to espionage activities involving foreign entities.
Sheikh Abdullah praised Bahraini authorities for uncovering the cell and taking legal action against those involved.
He also reiterated the UAE’s rejection of terrorism and organisations linked to foreign agendas, and stressed the importance of regional and international cooperation to counter security threats.
The foreign minister added that Bahrain’s security is closely tied to the security of the UAE and other Gulf states.
