82% of Yemen's population need humanitarian aid

Some 82% of Yemen’s population are in need of basic humanitarian aid as the war continues against Houthi rebels. That’s according to a report published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs that says the past six months of war in Yemen has taken a ‘’severe toll’’ on civilian lives. A lack of food, clean water, sanitation and access to healthcare are the top issues facing most Yemenis. Moreover, Stephen O'Brien, the under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs at the UN says Houthi rebels are blocking and diverting aid relief to Taiz from reaching those who are most affected by the clashes. In the UAE, the Mohammed bin Rashid Charitable and Humanitarian Establishment has donated AED 2 million in support of the Emirates Red Crescent’s relief and rebuilding programmes in Yemen.
