Thirty-four beggars have been arrested in Ras Al Khaimah since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, as authorities crack down on the illegal practice.

General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al-Naeimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, stressed that begging is often linked to theft and the exploitation of children, the sick and people of determination for illicit gains.

RAK Police have urged the public not to show sympathy to such individuals, and to donate only to official charities.
