The UAE has climbed six places to rank 10th globally in the 2026 Government Support Index, achieving its target of entering the world’s top 10.
The index, featured in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, measures the value of government support as a percentage of GDP.
The UAE improved from 16th place in 2025, with its indicator value falling from 0.55 per cent to 0.43 per cent. A lower percentage represents a stronger performance in the ranking.
The UAE also maintained second place globally in the Public Finance Index, third in the Budget Surplus/Deficit Indicator and seventh in the General Government Expenditure Index.
It retained fourth place globally in the Government Efficiency Index.
Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, said the latest result reflects the resilience of the UAE’s economic and fiscal system and its focus on balancing targeted economic stimulus with efficient investment spending.
The Ministry of Finance said efforts will now focus on maintaining the UAE’s position among the world’s top 10 in the Government Support Index and further improving the quality and consistency of public finance data.
