The UAE Football Association has authorised clubs to temporarily deduct up to 40 per cent of wages from players and coaches.

It was put forward at a virtual meeting chaired by FA president Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi as part of efforts to reduce the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis.

According to Mohamed Abdullah Hazzam Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the UAE Football Association, the monthly wages, should not fall below AED 15,000 after the reduction.

Salaries in the UAE First Division League will also be allowed a 40 per cent cut, provided it doesn't fall below AED10,000 after the deduction.

The Association also extended player contracts and moving transfer windows to allow the season to be completed as long as it meets the FIFA's new guidelines.
