Defending champion Brooks Koepka fired a bogey-free seven-under par 63 to take the first-round lead at the US PGA Championship.
"That was one of the best rounds I've played probably as a professional," Koepka said. "This golf course is brutal."
He became the first player to post 63 at a major in consecutive years.
New Zealand's Danny Lee made seven birdies to shoot a 64 and closed with back-to-back birdies to grab second in the clubhouse, while Tommy Fleetwood shot 67 to stand third.
Meanwhile, sixth-ranked Woods started with a double bogey on the 10th hole, before adding another on the par-three 17th.
