Brazil legend Zico seeks UAE help in FIFA bid

Brazil legend Zico has told Dubai Eye 103.8 that he has approached the UAE Football Association for their support as he steps up his bid to become the next FIFA president. The 62-year-old is one of four men to have publicly expressed their desire to succeed Sepp Blatter, who will step down from his role early next year in the wake of the corruption scandal that saw 14 officials indicted on racketeering charges. “I need five federations to support me as they don't consider my 40 years in football and all of my experience. The arguments start from this moment," said Zico in an exclusive interview. “I have tried to organise a meeting with the president of the UAE Football Federation, Yousef Al Serkal, to ask for his support. “I have sent letters to the other federations too. The most important thing for me is to talk and explain my ideals and vision for FIFA's future. He continued: “The problem in FIFA right now is that they have lost the trust of the people. I am very upset about this. Big changes are needed and I believe I'm well-prepared to become president and restore faith. “I want to open FIFA to the world. Right now FIFA is like a black box, and the black box is only opened when there has been an accident with the airplane.”
