His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has honoured 12 winners of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Water Award.
With total prizes of $1 million, the award aims to encourage developing innovative solutions to address the problem of water scarcity globally.
In a social media post, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that the new innovations will "help obtain safe and clean water at a low cost".
"Our goal in launching this award is to stimulate and encourage innovations to address the problem of water scarcity, pollution, and scarcity in less fortunate communities," His Highness wrote.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that "the best charity is providing water...and innovation in providing water is an ongoing charity... and a continuous, uninterrupted good".

Overseen by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE), the award is organised under the umbrella of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
It has four award categories, namely innovative projects, innovative research and development, innovative individual and innovative crisis solutions.
Over the last 10 years, the project has impacted over 1,000 water projects and benefitted more than 15 million people across 37 countries.
