The UAE has welcomed the commencement of implementing the peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia that was previously signed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The UAE emphasised the importance of building on this significant step to strengthen security and stability in Southeast Asia, as a foundation for continued constructive dialogue, good neighborly relations, and the fulfilment of both nations’ aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) praised the diplomatic efforts of US President Donald Trump, who contributed to creating the conditions to reach the agreement.

The agreement includes an enhanced ceasefire deal that builsd up on the truce previously initiated by Trump in July to improve relations between the two nations.

The UAE also underscored the pivotal role of Malaysia in hosting and facilitating the negotiations, along with regional and international efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.
