At the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, the UAE reaffirmed its full support for Qatar in the wake of the recent Israeli strike on Doha, calling the attack a blatant violation of international law and regional sovereignty.
The UAE emphasised that Qatar is not alone, and called on Arab and Islamic nations to speak with a united voice to demand change and uphold peace.
Leading the UAE delegation to the summit was His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
In a strongly worded statement, the UAE condemned the September 9th bombardment of the Qatari capital as an act of brutal aggression.
The UAE added that the security of Gulf Cooperation Council member states is indivisible, and expressed full solidarity with Qatar’s leadership and people.
The country also warned that Israel’s continued military escalation and threats of annexing Palestinian land are fuelling instability and obstructing the path to peace.
It urged the UN Security Council and the international community to take a firm stand, saying failure to act will only deepen regional chaos and threaten global security.
