UAE provides 3,000 food baskets to support Sudanese refugees

A total of 3,000 food baskets were distributed to Sudanese refugees across three camps in Chad under a new humanitarian initiative by the UAE.

The aid distribution in the Doki, Alasha, and Abu Qadam camps benefitted approximately 15,000 refugees, national news agency Wam reported.

The aid is designed to cover families’ nutritional needs for a full month, helping improve food security and living conditions of those displaced by the conflict.

Coordinated with Chad’s Ministry of Social Action, Solidarity, and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as the National Committee for the Reception and Reintegration of Refugees and Returnees, the project reflects a joint commitment to meeting the basic needs of vulnerable populations.

The initiative also included the deployment of a field medical team to Abu Qadam camp, where refugees received essential healthcare services.

It's part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced Sudanese across the region.

So far, the UAE has built three hospitals dedicated to serving Sudanese refugees in neighbouring countries. These include two field hospitals in the Chadian cities of Amdjaras and Abeche, as well as Madhool Hospital in South Sudan.

This latest initiative reinforces the UAE’s longstanding humanitarian approach, grounded in solidarity, regional cooperation and a firm commitment to improving the lives of those affected by conflict and crisis.
