A new government authority will be run on a rotating basis by members of the public, under a resolution issued on Wednesday.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has established the Community-Managed Virtual Authority under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been appointed as its Chairman.
The authority will be managed in cycles by a Director-General and support teams drawn from the community. A new Director-General will be chosen from among skilled and qualified members of society for each term.
It aims to involve young people, professionals, academics, entrepreneurs and retirees in developing solutions and national projects that benefit the country.
The model is inspired by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which centered on empowering people and involving them in nation-building.
The authority will be affiliated with the Presidential Court and work in line with national priorities, including the UAE Centennial 2071.
It will also document the expertise gained through its work, so knowledge can be passed on from one team to the next.
