A team from the UAE's Air Wing department has been honoured for saving the lives of nine sailors in a search and rescue mission after their ship capsized near Sharjah's Al Hamriyah Port.
The officials, including pilots, navigators and air traffic controllers, who participated in the two-hour operation were presented medals of professional excellence at a special ceremony.
Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, praised them for their courage and dedication.
The nine people were rescued without any injuries, national news agency Wam reported.
