His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced that a new residential area will be built in Khorfakkan's Jabal Al Ashkel, responding to concerns of a housing shortage.
The new homes at "Al Ashkel Neighbourhood" will be exclusively for the citizens and will be located along the mountainous region.
His Highness added that the road in the area leading to Al Rafisah will be paved for the construction of the neighbourhood, which will come up near the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled.
The details were revealed during a phone interview on the programme Direct Line, where the Sharjah Ruler was responding to concerns over a shortage of residential plots in Khorfakkan.
He informed that 270 homes are currently being constructed, with 120 homes in Al Mudeife. Additional plots in Al Harray area are also being handed over to the municipality, with construction expected to take around two years.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan noted that more housing projects are being implemented in Kalba along the ring road, starting from Al Ghayl, Al Saaf and Al Tareef, with construction in Al Dahiyat neighbourhood already underway.
