A new law in Ras Al Khaimah states that all jet skis and water scooters must be licenced.
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has issued the legislation.
It applies to jet-skis and watercraft businesses engaged in rental and training in the Emirate, including those within the economic zone.
They will not be allowed into the water unless they are licenced by the Ras Al Khaimah federal authorities or any competent authorities from outside the emirate.
But temporary permission can be granted for racing or any time-bound event.
Specific times and locations for the use of water scooters will also be enforced.
In addition, their use may be prohibited if a weather warning has been issued by the meteorology office.
