The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that unvaccinated employees in five business categories must undergo mandatory PCR testing every 14 days from March 28.
The sectors include hotels, restaurants, transport, health and social, as well as individual activities related to laundries, beauty salons and hairdressers.
A circular issued by Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said the decision, made in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), is part of the measures to limit the spread of the virus, preserve the health of employees and keep work environments safe.
The Ministry has asked all of the entities to encourage their staff to get inoculated and to coordinate with the competent authorities.
In addition, Abu Dhabi has announced that all private sector employees working in the emirate's vital sectors and service industries will undergo compulsory free PCR tests every two weeks.
The move has been approved by the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee for the COVID-19 Pandemic.
It also aims to enhance precautionary measures as part of the efforts to curb the spread of the virus and protect public health.
