Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the development of Al Khail Road, in a project costing AED 700 million.
It includes the construction of 3.3 km of bridges, along with road improvement works covering 6.8 km across seven locations, covering Zabeel, Meydan, Al Quoz First, Ghadeer Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle.
The Al Khail Road Improvement Project will increase the capacity of existing intersections and bridges by about 19,600 vehicles per hour, easing congestion at and around major junctions and cutting travel times by 30 per cent.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the RTA said it "stands out among the strategic projects aimed to enhance the capacity of roads that run parallel to and support Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. Al Khail Road is one of Dubai’s key traffic corridors stretching from Business Bay crossing to its junction with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, encompassing six lanes in each direction.”
