Sultan Al Neyadi says becoming the first Arab astronaut to perform a spacewalk outside the International Space Station was the highlight of his historic six-month mission in outer space.
The UAE astronaut was speaking in an exclusive interview alongside crew members from the United States and Russia as they discussed their joint NASA SpaceX Crew-6 mission.
"It was seven hours and it was really, really, incredible just the amount of emotions initially when we got out of the airlock, was really surreal," he said.
"Going out with a good friend like Steve Bowen it was amazing, as a rookie astronaut going outside it meant everything. I would say that it was the crown jewel of the mission."
In a special docuseries produced by the Dubai Future Foundation, Russian Cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev and US astronaut Stephen Bowen gave insights into their mission to the International Space Station along with Al Neyadi.
The 10-minute video was filmed at the 2023 edition of the Dubai Future Forum, the World’s Largest Gathering of Futurists.
