His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has announced an aid package worth AED 50 million for Pakistan.
The aid will be in the form of direct food support for individuals and families affected by the devastating floods in the country.
It will be provided by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), in cooperation with the World Food Programme and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH).
The massive floods have killed over 1,100 people, displaced millions, and destroyed more than 3,450 km of vital roads.
The humanitarian initiative is in line with the UAE's keenness to extend a helping hand to support the needs of those affected by natural disasters and crises worldwide.
The MBRGI, established in 2015, has over 30 humanitarian and developmental initiatives and entities under its umbrella.
