An attempt to sell drugs worth AED 15 million has been thwarted by the Sharjah Police Anti-Narcotics Department, with the arrest of nine gang members.
Officers received a tip-off that the contraband had been brought into the country.
Within 12 hours, the gang were being monitored in an operation dubbed "Lightning Force."
They were then arrested during a raid and have been referred to the Public Prosecution office in Sharjah.
The Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, Lieutenant Colonel Majid Al Asam, said the police worked in coordination with other drug enforcement agencies in the UAE during the investigation.
Lt. Col. Al Asam praised the teams' cooperation and professionalism.
He stressed that the police will spare no effort to enhance the security of the country's citizens, residents and visitors.
