Government entities in Dubai are set to implement the 'Our Summer is Flexible' programme on Tuesday, introducing flexible working hours in the public sector until September 12.
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) said it will be implemented based on each entity’s discretion.
The first group will work eight hours from Monday to Thursday and enjoy Friday as a full holiday, while the second group will work seven hours from Monday to Thursday and 4.5 hours on Friday.
The move is "aimed at enhancing work-life balance for government employees", the authority said, adding that it follows the "success of its pilot phase in 2024".
Results from the pilot implementation across 21 government entities in 2024 reportedly demonstrated increased productivity, improved work environment quality, and an increase in employee satisfaction and happiness levels to nearly 98 per cent.
