Dubai Police are warning motorists about the dangers of driving while extremely tired or suffering from health issues such as blood sugar imbalances, high blood pressure or psychological conditions.

The reminder follows an accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, where a driver lost control after fainting and crashed into a concrete barrier.

Two people were injured and taken to hospital.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said some drivers underestimate mild symptoms, even though they can rapidly turn into life-threatening situations behind the wheel.

He added that losing consciousness while driving is among the most dangerous causes of major crashes, as drivers can lose control within seconds.

The official highlighted the importance of regular medical check-ups, particularly for people with chronic health conditions and those who drive long hours, and also urged drivers to take regular breaks and stop immediately if they feel unwell.
