Dubai Police have impounded 28 vehicles during recent inspection campaigns targeting motorists with multiple unpaid traffic fines and overdue registrations.
The crackdown, led by the General Department of Traffic, aims to boost road safety and curb reckless driving.
The inspections revealed that many of the seized vehicles had racked up tens of thousands of dirhams in unpaid fines, some with registrations expired for years.
Brigadier Jumaa Bin Suwaidan, director of the department, warned that vehicles with unpaid fines over AED 6,000 can be impounded under Decree No. 29 of 2015—and that there will be zero tolerance for repeat offenders.
Motorists are being urged to settle their violations using the Dubai Police app, which offers flexible payment options to help prevent further penalties.
Colonel Abdullah Rashid from the Violations Monitoring Department added that police are using advanced tech to track down non-compliant vehicles both on the road and in public parking areas.
He emphasized that the campaign is not just about enforcement, but about raising awareness and encouraging safer driving behaviour.
