UAE residents planning to travel must take mandatory pre-travel vaccines, Dubai Health Authority has advised.
The authority has urged residents to get vaccinations one month before the travel to ensure its effectiveness. Those intending to take COVID-19 shot must do so after medical consultation.
“There are mandatory vaccines such as yellow fever vaccine for African and South American countries. Since vaccination requirements vary by country and some require second doses, it is important to visit a travel clinic at least one month prior to travel,” Dr. Alia Mohammad Al Dallal, Consultant Family Physician and Acting Director of Specialized Program Services Department at DHA’s Primary Health Care Sector said.
She added that travellers must take all precautions necessary to prevent not only COVID-19 but other infectious diseases.
Dr. Fatima Al Marzooqi, Family Medicine Physician at the DHA’s Primary Healthcare Sector advised travellers to purchase travel insurance to help cover the costs of health emergencies.
