An Arab celebrity has been arrested in Dubai for organising two birthday parties in violation of COVID-19 safety protocols.
According to Dubai Police, the parties were held at two different restaurants where guests disregarded the rules on social distancing and wearing face masks.
Brigadier Jamal Salem Al-Jallaf, director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, said officers took action against the artist (identified as M.H.) after she posted a video on her Snapchat account of the crowded gathering.
Authorities have once again called on the public as well as tourism companies and local businesses to support the government's efforts to limit the spread of the pandemic.
There's an AED 10,000 fine for those who organise social gatherings and celebrations, while attendees are fined AED 5,000.
