Over 17,000 people were stranded at Tokyo's Narita International Airport overnight after one of the strongest typhoons in recent years battered Japan's capital city.
Typhoon Faxai caused more than 100 flights to be scrapped and impacted train and bus services that linked the airport to the city.
Narita Airport, located in Chiba, was in the line of fire of the typhoon that brought winds of up to 207kph.
According to recent media reports, railway lines connecting the airport with Tokyo have resumed operations and is helping clear the crowds.
The airport said it delivered 2,000 bottles of water, 19,000 bags of crackers and 18,000 bed rolls to stranded passengers.
