A Norwegian tourist on holiday in India has reportedly been ordered to leave the country after she joined a protest against the controversial citizenship law.
An official from the Foreigners' Regional Registration Officer at Kochi airport said Janne-Mette Johansson had violated her visa conditions.
"She has been asked to leave the country as early as possible. The tourist visa on which she visited the country on a tourist visa which does not allow participation in any protests," he informed.
According to media reports, Johansson had received verbal approval from police officers before she participated in the protests.
It comes just days after a German exchange student was told to leave the country after taking part in two rallies.
At least 25 people have been killed in protests across the country since the law, seen by critics as discriminatory, was adopted on December 11.
