North Korea has asked the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) to help recover what it says is the “illegal” seizure of one of its cargo ships by the USA.
In a letter to Antonio Guterres, the North Korean ambassador to the UN said the incident proves that the US is a 'gangster country' that does not care about international laws.
Last week the USA punished North Korea for violating sanctions by seizing one of its cargo ships.
They say the marine vessel, called Wise Honest, was being used to transport coal and heavy machinery.
Coal, which has been subject to a UN export ban, is North Korea’s largest export.
It was the first time the US has seized a North Korean ship for not abiding by sanctions.
